Moments

They are the little things that mean the most.

It takes a fifth of a second to fall in love.

It took me a full second to memorize your name,

a minute longer to tattoo it on my heart,

and a moment more

to know I wanted to be with you.

It happens in moments.

The way I understood that I would never be the same

after you kissed me.

How I craved butterfly kisses and rock candy,

and root beer became my new flavor

after I tasted it on your lips.

Moments together with you.

As simple and complex as that sounds,

that's all I wanted.

Time seems to be longer when you're with someone.

It feels fast but those little memories

last lifetimes.

Without you,

moments come at 2 am.

Watching seconds tick by.
