A bird of many colors

A bird of many colors

A Poem by Anne Martin
"

63. from my Hot tub series

"

a bird of many colors, I am
wading in a pool of desire
a molten core of need, I burn
lava from a ripe volcano
ill-tempered fruit of the Earth

soaring near the golden sun, I fly
Icarus' waxed wings melt
from my flailing arms, it must
my destiny be to live
uncomfortably close to the edge

lost in a purple darkness, unloved
a cave of souls departed
my only friends, hidden
from light, from affection
in yearning infatuation

naked in the azure night, I pray
to the spirits of old
my kin, my sisters, I revere
cool my heart from this passion
this blue hot fire within

prostrate in the cool grass, I lie
dream of pleasure long forgotten
in the haze of time, a mystery
for clouds turn gray
and dim my satisfaction

rise up crimson moon, I beckon
save me from this gloom
celestial hearts defeat my fear
in ardor give my love design
to fly again in Eden's splendor

I love how you made the words dance to perfection. The reader felt the need and the memories.

I liked the above lines. I hope one day to see the faces of the people I loved again. Thank you dear Anne for sharing the amazing poetry..
