Trying To Soar On Broken Wings

Trying To Soar On Broken Wings

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire
"

"

She's trying to soar on broken wings.
Up one minute,
Down the next.
No matter how hard she tries,
She can't seem to perfect.

Tempted never again to fly...
Resting in her nest.
To herself she couldn't possibly lie,
She can only do her best.

She's always given more than she takes,
She's always wanted to smile rather than frown.
So all she can wonder is why her heart aches,
And is always falling down.

She sings her song,
A little sadder every night.
Few actually yearn to sing along,
So smile she might...

At the mere thought someone might care,
She spreads her wings and tries again.
Maybe there's someone out there,
That can show her it really isn't the end.

She's trying to soar on broken wings,
Lately no one's heard the song she sings..

Author's Note

Annebelle Ashire
it feels wonderful to fly, when for so long the phrase,
"broken wings"
meant
"never again".
