There Was A Time

There Was A Time

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

There was a time, when, you were the only thing on my mind.
There was a time, when I'd, look into your eyes and see that, pure love.
There was a time, oh, there, was a time, when I could trust everything you said. But baby, that memory is dead!

You don't know how much you've put me down.
You don't know the pain you've caused this broken heart.
This broken heart, I hold in my hands,
The one, the one beating for someone, someone who understands.

I say, you should take my hand,
and we should, run, away.
I say, you should take my hand,
and escape as long as we can.
We can, work it out,
We can, make it all okay.
Yeah, we can make it all okay.

There was a time,
Yeah there was a time,
Baby, when I was yours and you were mine.
There was a time,
Yeah there was a time,
When loving you wasn't a crime.

I say, you should take my hand,
and we should, run, away.
I say, you should take my hand,
and escape as long as we can.
We can, work it out,
We can, make it all okay.
Yeah, we can make it all okay...
