Number 3

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire

You make it pretty clear,

There's something that I'm saying you don't hear.

And when I say goodbye today

It doesn't mean I'm crawling back tomorrow.

You can pray and call and pretend that I'm staying,

But you know - that I know-

My heart was only borrowed.

It was a foolish game one child was playing.

You swam in the deep end

You made that choice,

And now you've gotta live with what you can't comprehend.
