To This "Soldier" [#2-Final]

To This "Soldier" [#2-Final]

A Poem by Annebelle Ashire
"

Never have faith in "words"

"

Soldiers are supposed to bring hope
Back to their family and friends.
I'm wondering just how much you'll gloat
Before considering making amends.

It takes a rather weak person to give up on
The people who once unconditionally loved him.
So I'm wondering when you'll realize that they are gone
And how wrong you were to allow that light to dim.

This write isn't very long
But I would like to tell you about the man who became a boy.
He never saw the wrong
Blinded completely by this title brought to destroy.

I lived at his side
And fought for us: battle after battle.
But the more he would subside
The more the world around us would prattle.

Over night
360 degree turn.
Do you think he was right
To let the letters burn?

Aching for so long
There were no tears where he expected them to be.
Learning that where he stood I did not belong
My eyes began to open and finally see.

- In the end we agree to disagree -
