Clinging

Clinging

A Poem by Austin Smith
"

An attempt to search for deeper understanding of who I am, and how I would react in a situation, and my justifications. As always, I hope you enjoy.

"

For the rain from the clouds, there appear to be  none,

But the rain from your eyes has only just begun.

I don’t understand why you ran straight for me,

Or why your feet tremble right up to your knee.

Has your heart been crushed? What’s there I can do?

I cannot repair a broken heart for you,

Or force myself to find a reason to kill

A man who’s crime may be one; what’s the bill?

I am of little use to you right now

For I too am a man, one who has hurt thou.

I shiver in place as I tell you these things

And hope you understand, little joy this poem brings.

Will you still cling on? I suppose you know best,

So please cling ever harder, and enjoy your rest.
