The Mask

The Mask

A Poem by Apebble

How long have you run,
From the fear of yourself?
Scared to be who you are,
Deep down, past that shrouded heart

For too long you've hidden,
Behind a veil not your own.
Trying to act a different role,
In attempt to regain control

But the mask you put on,
Is the prison around your soul,
If only you saw through this charade,
And were how you were made

You were made for so much more,
Than trying to just look the part.
Look beyond the moment,
Look as to why you were sent

Such dreams in your heart,
But they will never see the day,
If you cover them up behind,
A mask you weren't meant to find

I can see your beauty shining,
Far beyond the mask you wear.
Take it off, throw it all away,
And let the world see your true face
