Give Up Self

Give Up Self

A Poem by J.L. Davenport
"

The everyday wake to work to help to care and to sleep just a short while to do it all again. This is the life we all share summed up.

"
Wake up every morning to give up self to the world for a whole day
Everyday
Cry out in me
I allow your stresses, your pains, your agitations, depressions, humiliations, and strains
Cry out in me for release, a meditative seclusion is sometimes the solution
I the lifting shoulders and warm arms
I the soft voice
I the musical heart
I the thick pockets to be emptied
The heavy eyes with no sleep
The dizzy head
The swollen feet
I who give up self, which is everything
To allow others peace

This most def. is how a feel at times. You talked of the struggle and brung images of waking up early to come home late. Just reading every line summed up my day.
