Born to Die, Die to Be Born

Born to Die, Die to Be Born

A Poem by J.L. Davenport
"

Either way we live to weather the storms and we do it very well!

"
Everyone and everything in this world is born and dies
Man woman and child
Beast and environment
Continually passing through birth and death
The breath of life, the last breath, the cycle miraculous and beautiful
The elaborate wonders of it all occurring
The thought on how and when
Is truly grand
How though that of all this wealth
The environment
Having beast and being man
How could man reverse the plan?
With his ragged and savage insight, his intelligence only ignorance
His mind with his hands can damage
Like many paints tossed on sheet and called art, unappealing
Man can now create breath and take it away
Once the throes of death was without pain, without guilt, without shame
Once upon a time, I am sure
That in death the clouds would glide you into the heavens and the sun would not burn but soothe
Now the clouds are gray, the sun is on fire, and we have storms ahead
