The masks

The masks

A Poem by Lauren Applegrove
"

The people you meet every day are often not the people the are, the often hide the flaws of their life and themselves behind masks of perfection, mostly fooling themselves.

"
The masks

Rotten, fading souls,
Broken, pointless goals.
Greed, anger, lust,
And constant shattered trust.
No person is purely good,
Denying all the things the should.
All wearing a perfection mask,
Often made of the cheapest glass.
But stronger masks are there but few,
Even fooling their mirror view.
My mask is pure and thick,
And among the strongest of tricks.
With black eyes that are often closed,
When they open their horror shows.
No one's life is shown to you,
Because the masks hide the clue.

As far as musicality goes, the last line is one syllable too short, but the rest dances very well; it breathes, the message is expressed with great punches and juicy lines. Simply well done!
