Fill Me

Fill Me

A Poem by April Child

You fill me to

overflowing

with words

so delicately

haunting they

spill from my eyes

diamond droplets

falling, sliding

over my lips

tasting like

the sun itself

exploding on

my tongue a

myriad colour

fountain

mellifluously

raining

down my throat

to my stomach

where sun rises

warm and glowing

your words

inside me.

The visual structure of this poem is like a glass, overflowing with the love you have of words, of poetry, of love and I can't help but smile feeling I'm in the presence of the jeweled heart of a poet spilling forth her soul upon page, shared like wine at dinner, warming our bellies and tickling our imaginations with language sublime, melted and molded in the hearth of eternal joy. Wow. I just want to drink these words and have them become a part of me, educating me, warming me, filling me with peace and joy and love.

It was a tooth achingly sweet poem, not what I usually read but it is always great to live a little. The images you portrayed were wonderful and one could almost go into diabetic shock at the sweetness of this poem, great job.

"tasting like/the sun itself"
I like it! Solid line; solid piece.

Wow, this is amazing. So many metaphors for words. I love how they are diamonds that taste like sunlight itself. It puts the image into my mind of a diamond in front of the sun, and the reflecting and bending light it would cause, going in several different directions, just like words can. I'm adding this to my favorites.

Have a nice day!

I must say, the step by step imagery here is nothing short of impressive and confirms that these words have safely reached their destination. Sometimes in this world of many voices, misunderstandings, and unspoken gestures, we are left to wonder if our words have fallen on the right fertile ground... a beautiful response like this leaves no doubt and tends to leave the reader with a smile on his face that will not soon disappear :)
