A Union of Trails

A Union of Trails

A Poem by Archishman Rick

In the stretches between a distant crest and a jungle creek,
A remote site hosting no apparent souls to greet,
Set the stage one day for two lone strangers off to seek,
Differing knowledge and adventure to unknowingly meet.

One out to discover what scapes lay beyond the fresh hills,
The other to cross the waters that made the forest split.
Fervent travellers as they were, both sensed each other's thrills;
Their opposing routes connected by a kindred spirit.

Mutual regard born not from whim but esoteric intrigue,
Past personal background into the rich backdrop each faced,
Despite their slipshod gear and solo strides in midday fatigue,
They could clearly acknowledge each other's romantic taste.

Fervour refueled and faith revamped by a union of chance,
Easing concerns for what lay ahead and what was left behind,
One's untrodden path secured by the other's trail in advance,
For the dauntless will toward a gallivanter's wealth to find.

This was wonderful and stretched far and wide. Lots of things to contemplate in it.
I feel the author is offering the different routes we take in life, the different aspects or modes of living; some intersect, others don't. Lots of humans can have shared purposes, outlooks, ways of thinking.
Very nice.

Wow! An eloquent write so gracefully inked. I guess in life we all have very different paths to follow though we all reach the same place at the end of our path. We set out on our path with faith and hope in our hearts and meet kindred spirits along the way which we are able to identify with. We may have many or few things in common with our kindred spirits, but there will always be a specific reason as to why they have crossed our path in life. They complement each other as so finely expressed on the poem "One's untrodden path secured by the other's trail in advance". The poem has beautiful spiritual undertones for me. I like this poem v-e-r-y much, Rick. It speaks to me in many different ways. Superb penning! Thank you for sharing...
