Wrought-Iron Bars

Wrought-Iron Bars

A Poem by Ariel Nicole

She should have listened
She should have behaved
But now its too late
And she cannot be saved
Now no matter what she does
She is always in pain
She can scream and scream
But each time it's in vain
She begs and begs
As her cuts turn to scars
She cries and cries
Behid her wrought-iron bars

She stays hidden away
Because she is so afraid
As her nightmares appear
Her decision is made
She locks herself away
As if that would save her
But as time went by
She began to wither
Now she lays in bed
As her cuts turn to scars
She lives in terror
Behind her wrought-iron bars

"As her cuts turn to scars" I absolutely adored that line and it conveyed the passing of time beautifully. It made me think of her as a mad girl, misunderstood and mistreated for it. Another lovely poem, well-written and captivating.
