Darkness And Light

Darkness And Light

A Poem by Arshina

I lift my head to the shadows of the light,
So true that there will be evil where there is good,

The brightness just pinches my eyes.
I flee to the darkness, its serenity like a magnet,

But I know this is wrong, being in darkness for long,
Going into the light is only escape,
I try to flee but it pushes me back
Because I’m blinded by its glare,
it’s a curse to be in there,
It burns my soul.

I weigh my choices, they’re much the same,
Both give me solace, both give me pain,

It’s like they’re tearing up my heart and Lord! It does hurt,
When smiles become poison and love becomes a curse.

Smiles like shadow, love like light.
Equally deceiving, but with equal delight,
Like the door to the devils womb,Secure and cornered but burning from the inside.

So no need to take either of the stands,
You are safe only in the no man’s land,
Light will burn you and shadow will freeze,
You will find true serenity, when your search will cease.

So lift your head up to the shadows of the light.
And push them both away with your might,
Because crimson love will only kill
And smiles will slit you at every sight.
