Joy

Joy

A Poem by Allyson N. Jason
"

An obligated and commanded ode to despair.

"

Too many burdens I have had in my living
Love is for the fools
and hatred is for the giving
Why have I been caught in this complicated net
So that if temptation overwhelms,
anguish I will never forget
Sadness has been with me for a long time
When will I receive joy
is that some crime
that I will be locked up for
for the rest of my life
Desolation will become engaged
and I will be its future wife
What is joy but something felt
what is life but agony dealt

.. joy- agony- those are true opposing features.. which give your writing a depth of balance-
the emotional content is subversive, being an ode to despair- you hit the mark with ease, Nicely done.
