Wasted.

Wasted.

A Poem by Alexander Z. Anthony
"

A short poem. Twas for a class at school.

"

All that time I spent,
admiring her from a distance,
All that time she spent,
ignorant of my existence.

All that time I spent,
trying to ask her out.
All that time she spent,
her mind so full of doubt.

All that time I spent,
sitting on a dinner date with her.
All that time she spent,
smiling as if she were sure.

Until the waiter showed the receipt he held in hand,
and my jaw went slack.
Not for what it read,
but for what was written on the back.

A little note he’d scrawled,
On the corner of the page:
“Don’t you even dare,
she’s already engaged.”

All that time I spent…

wasted.

haha thoroughly amusing. if only we didn't have to try and find some complicated reason for the other people's actions, then we'd find a downright simple solution to the problem. but of course, knowing that she was engaged would have saved that guy tons of trouble, and is there absolutely anything wise or rational about people in general that they would assume that or ask the reason behind her uncertainty? haha i like the flow of this, thanks for the nice read :)

My oh my..... someone's fiancee would not be too happy about that. ;p
I love how it started with the common issue of admiring that someone from afar and feeling they have no idea you even exist. Then moving on to the somewhat awkward first date.

Then wham-o! (With my vocabulary, that's what I come up with...)
She's not even available. More than not available.
This was extremely funny at the end, I loved the twist.

Awesome write :]
