From Africa to the Bahamas

From Africa to the Bahamas

A Poem by BETHUEL TJEBANE

The sight of you brings me warmth in my coldness.
The shields to my heart trespassed by your boldness.
You became a word of assurance in the midst of my insecurities.
Still perplexed by the idea of you being in love with my impurities.

I didn't fall for your glitz and glamour,
But for the way you expressed your affection for me with clamor.
I'd swim across the Pacific just to smell your breath.
I like how you put in an accent whenever you say Beth.

We're kilometers apart but still connected by a mutual feeling.
Your "hello" hangs my mood up on the ceiling.
Someone told me that love is like cocaine, well I wanna be addicted like I am to codeine.
Yeah give it to me like it's some protein.

Fantasies of pillow fights in our pajamas.
I love you from Africa to the Bahamas.
