SHORT STORY

"
It’s six in the morning,I’ve got to be at work in two hours.
I dash frantically out of my room.
Shoot!my six months old baby just puked on my new suit.
Oh! When it rains it pours!
Oh God I throw a hasty prayer up, help me!
My baby senses my anger and starts crying
Just what I need.
Babe! are you coming?we’re running late!
I roll my eyes in total exasperation,
I can’t stand another lecture on time management this morning.
My neighbor says hello...wrong timing.
I barely respond
What’s her name again?
Finally,I get my self, baby, and hand bag into the car
..then my husband and I stop in our tracks
Why is everybody at home today?
We must have looked menacing because nobody attempted to come close.
...finally a brave neighbor came forward saying
“The lock down begins today, there is no work.
You could see my husband deflate like a ballon.
We felt stupid.
Suddenly, our baby giggled.
We were victims of our life style.
...urban madness.
Thank you COVID-19,you provided a cure.
