Where i lost my heart

Where i lost my heart

A Poem by ......

rain drops pierce my skin

running in the woods panting

not knowing where im going

its pitch black and im jumping over logs and ducking tree branches

i hear thunder in the distance; the sky is a dark shade of purple

lightning strikes the bare sky and thats when...

eyes black

big claws

sharp fangs

cunning grin

i start to studder falling backwards

"just one more moment, thats all thats needed, talk to me be honest"

i get up in shock and run for my life

voices echo in the back of my mind

im lost in my thoughts

ideas race through my head like cheetahs

but a deep ear piercing howl brings me back to reality

lightning strikes again

i turn my head but nothing behind me then i turn my head infront and...

"run away with me, and we'll be safe together"

I fall to my hands and knees from stumbaling over a log

i look infront of me

a big black wolf head stairs straight into my eyes

it is 2 times the size of me

i start to cry

the wolf sits infront of me and wipes my tears away

still in shock of fear

i look again into his eyes

but i then notice something i didnt at first

his eys are the eyes of the man i truley fell in love with

memories come back to me of when him and i were younger and he gave me a flower

telling me it was the symbol of his love for me

and that i was to marry him

i take my two hands and cup them around the huge face and hold on tightly

and thats how i dissapearded

The End ?

this is an astonishing line: the wolf sits infront of me and wipes my tears away ... I like all about this poem in which the forest and wolf seem to symbolise all the fears that can make us uneasy. It is almost an adult version of the timeless European fairy tails. The notion of the wolf being ambivalent at the end is really strong.
