I smiling face disturbs me most.

What exactly do they have to boast?

Their happiness cannot be real.

I certainly do not see the big deal.

It's a land of zombies who are hellbent

in brainwashing others into thinking they're content.

But I guess that can't be; I see they are alive.

But if they are the living,

then what am I?

I love those kinds of poems where something is described and then is compared to the persona. Somehow the surprise is always a pleasure. This poem gives me insight into the mind of a pessimist. Sometimes I honestly cannot see what they see but you've laid it out quite beautifully. Coupled with the rhyme scheme (it gives the poem more impact) this is really superb. And I wonder..it isn't really pessimistic to question one's existence. However, this context poses the question differently. I realize that pessimists probably don't see themselves as such. Very thought provoking..

About
Not much to say about me except that writing is the only thing that I'm half-capable of doing. I realized this when a college professor exclaimed that "you are an excellent rhetoric!" and, of course, .. more..
