Eulogy

Eulogy

A Poem by Bane

What could lead a wretch like me to see
Not a song that old folks sing
This amazing grace
This downward race

The rocks at the bottom welcome me
Pierce my flesh and set me free
Is this where I belong
A pit
A cave
Just a number amongst the throngs

I am lost but never found
I was blind and still can't see
Is this grace or blood
That washes me
Is it truth
The mud of life
I can't recoup from this strife

Most people have to "hit" rock bottom
I climbed down to be forgotten
A faceless soul in a soulless place

Remember what you want of me
Hopefully only happy things
Your thoughts are yours to make
Please don't remember all my mistakes
I tried to always be good
And always do the things I should
But failure is my true ally
And I will carry that until I die
