My Darkest Love (Sweet Suicide)

An old write.

Like the ghost of a lost love,

You come out of the shadows

Stalking me like your prey,

Feasting on every thought in my mind.

 

Trapped in your darkness,

I have dreamed for an eternity

To break away from your chains

And live my life in freedom.

 

Used and abused,

Wrapped up in all your cliches

While I daydream of brighter days

And any chance to escape you.

 

Silky clouded dreams,

Damaged by your acid rain.

You taunt me with your empty promises

And kiss away the pain.

 

Cautiously I learn,

To trust you once more

As you torment me again

With strawberry gashes.

 

Haunting my memories,

You will not let me let go.

Brainwashed,

As I fall madly in love with the idea of you.

 

My sweet darkest love,

I long to be near you, but it can never be

In this never-ending battle

Between the sun and the moon inside my mind.

Not to be taken literally, this is merely about falling in love with idea of suicide.

Suicide is a mystery. I lost two brothers to suicide. No-one knows why they killed themselves. They had no debt and they were young. I wrote many poems on the topic. I do believe all of us think about death. I believe you must have reason to be alive. I have many reasons to live. Family need me around. Sometime the demons of loneliness can overtake you.

It's interesting and unique. Something that I read for the first time. I liked concept and enjoyed the poem very much. Nice write. :)

'Falling in love with the idea of suicide' is something new for me to read. Nevertheless, the poem was excellent. I loved the imagery and they way the love takes the guise of an addiction which firmly grasps your mind and refuses to relent. And the last two lines are brilliant. The image of a battle between the sun and the moon is remarkable.
