Political State

Political State

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

"Let us not seek the Republican answer or the Democratic answer, but the right answer. Let us not seek to fix the blame for the past. Let us accept our own responsibility for the future." -John F. Kennedy
~*~*~*~*~

"Well, I am a Republican, and I would run as a Republican. And I have a lot of confidence in the Republican Party. I don't have a lot of confidence in the president. I think what's happening to this country is unbelievably bad. We're no longer a respected country." -Donald Trump
~*~*~*~*~
"How did we win the election in the year 2000? We talked about a humble foreign policy: No nation-building; don't police the world. That's conservative, it's Republican, it's pro-American - it follows the founding fathers. And, besides, it follows the Constitution." -Ron Paul

"Think, It's not illegal yet"-Ali Gay

Political outrage
Walk to fame
Giving in to glory
Playing a twisted game.
Lies
Meshed together tight
Hiding away your courage
Never once stepping out of the light

Planned parenting
Dollars down the drain
Killing innocents
But your not to blame
Using as birth control
Wicked in it’s ways
But your not the one
Throwing their lives away.

Liberal tyrant
Socialism to blame
Educated lawyer
Your lying either way
Protect our people
Fight for what’s right
Why should we have to throw away our lives?

Complete shutdown
The country cried
Refusing to pay
The ones who protect our lives
Republicans battled
Democrats appalled
You never once got involved

Giving to Iraq
What we need here
They only blew us away
But show no fear
People here are starving
Fighting to survive
Instead you build schools
For ones who put up a fight.

Amendment one
Free speech to all
Who can we express
How much we’re appalled
Voted once
To take it away
Your losing the battle you waged this day.

May or may not
Make up your mind
You can straddle the fence
Not this time
Give it up
No one cares anyway
You pretty much threw
Our country away

Political outrage
Walk to fame
Giving in to glory
Playing a twisted game.
Lies
Meshed together tight
Hiding away your courage
Never once stepping out of the light

Impeachment
Nobody knows the way
Easily done
If we concentrate
Won’t be long
Your rein will end
Then we can start building
This country again

W00t. I like it, but you kept putting "out" instead of "our". It made me LOL out loud =]

But it's a great poem, none the less.

I find it so amazing that you can turn something as dark and messy as politics and turn it into an amazing, powerful poem that leaves me thinking and wondering about the future of our nation. You truly have the gift of a true artist!

Politics is a never ending tug of war, justice is a game, religion is a trait for undesirables, nobody cares for the future. What is happening to our country?

Intense and I loved it. The truth about politics and those involved in it couldn't have been written better. It has become a sideshow and every one wants to be apart of it. I really liked this poem and feel that some of our "great leaders" should start caring about their actions before this nation is screwed up to the point of no return if it is not to late already. Have you thought about getting this seriusly published? I think I would make a much needed statment.

Interesting poem! I would be horrified if Trump became president, but the same goes for them all at this point because our politics has gone completely corrupt. It wouldn't nearly be this bad if it wasn't for the lobbyists and media, but even the politicians themselves are fighting for their own place in office and nothing else, which is very scary. Lust for power would sum it up. I'm not a radical, left or right, liberal or conservative. I would call myself an independent. I think this poem explains what I've said, and I like it.

good write,
the usa def has taken a hit,
the war sucked the country and economy dry,
having lived in america during the good times
and right through to the recession i could see this with my own eyes...
politics is corrupt to the core, but donald trump has his head way too far up his a*s for my liking.....that dude should just stick to what he knows best......
real estate, and he should prob hire a decent hair stylist while he is at it!
