Friendship Remembrance

Friendship Remembrance

A Poem by Alicia Hirshey

~*~*~

Time lapse
Heart tears pour
Falling into nothing
Not able to hold on anymore
Polka dot memories
Wrapped together with care
Holding on to the memories
That have brought me here
~*~
Missing our nights
The tears we shed
You held me close
Helped me through all of it
Giving up seemed easy
I hated you
Time has shown me
That hate was never true
~*~
Pictures packed away
In an album covered in lace
Holding on
Cherishing those days
I loved you whole
Trusted you
Everything fell apart
And still I run to you
~*~
Timeless memories
My tears start to fade
Sitting in your arms
I wouldn’t have it any other way
~*~
Friendship dies
Like leave in the fall
Memories remain
To save us all
Holding on to nothing
I cannot replace
The way you saved me
By not saying a thing
~*~
Hurtful names
Mean things to be said
Broke the pact
We chose to end
Holding on to nothing
Is there anything more
Friendship means nothing
If your not on board
~*~
Time lapse
Heart tears pour
Falling into nothing
Not able to hold on anymore
Polka dot memories
Wrapped together with care
Holding on to the memories
That have brought me here

Author's Note

Alicia Hirshey
Everyday friendships end, some for reasons untold and some for reasons that everybody knows. I had a sudden burst of inspiration looking through some old poems I had written for my best friend. We don't talk much anymore, mostly because I am hurt so bad that most days it's better to just ignore the whole situation, but it doesn't stop me from loving her or from missing her any less. She was my best friend. And as much as it sucks to say it, she always will be. No matter what.

The closer you hold someone, the deeper they can stab.

A very deep and inspiring poem. I can feel the love and admiration, the friendship built of all this time. I especially liked the picture's quote, it really is true. This poem also emphasizes the difficutly forgetting someone who has been with you thrugh everything. I really liked the line:
"Friendship means nothing
If your not on board"
A very true statement, magnificent job :)

I like the way you express the time lapse. As if they are seperate poems that create one.Kind of like a collective subconcious that can only be experienced by true friends.

I can feel your anguish in this write. I can also relate, I've lost a lot of friends to various circumstances. Its sad but sometimes memories is all that we will ever have.
I do love the poem Ali. Excellent work.

Another great poem...but this is so sad. I understand what you have gone through! I had a best friend who was even there for the birth of my son...but there was a small stupid fight (our first one EVER) and then she called off our friendship...it was sad. But I never had a best friend like her. Now it is hard for me to open up with anyone. I love you Ali and i appreciate our friendship...so I understand the hurt you feel but you are a strong woman! Remember that!
