The ghost of Airborne Bravo

The ghost of Airborne Bravo

A Poem by Rebecca Leigh
"

For anyone, who likes Adele's song "Hello" or wishes they still had that friend who is now an ex.

"

Sometimes,
every so often,
you enter my thoughts,
maybe I am in yours,
Whatever the reason;
I forget all the bad,
all the obstacles,
and heartache,
we put each other through.
Instead I remember;
Kissing you in the snow,
the little surprises you'd give me.
the way you looked at me;
like I was the only one you could see.
I remember, the beginning.
Before the Army,
before graduation,
Before Iraq,
and before the beer.
I remember my friend.
we could sit for hours together:
just enjoying our shared space-
Doing the things we loved.
confiding in you when I had bad day,
or cheering you up if you did.
sharing our achievements together.
I miss the mere act of talking with you,
Your deep croaky voice,
you were my constant for so long, and I miss that
I miss you.
And you changed,
And so did I, and we are supposed to hate each other now,
to forget it all;
And no matter how hard i try,
you will remain etched in my memory,
Always and Forever

It is sad how we can change. War, life and different journey. Leave us alone except for the memories of the good days.
"I miss you.
And you changed,
And so did I, and we are supposed to hate each other now,
to forget it all;"
I understand the above lines. Thank you for the amazing poetry.

It is sad how you can go from loving someone to not knowing them at all. Thank you for reading.

You are right and you are welcome. People change and seek other directions.
This is a really nice tribute to a lost lover/friend - maybe someday you will reunite :)
