breaking through

longing in my heart,
causing pains,
that weight the chest.
i want a new start,
to feel sane,
to no longer be repressed.
Guarded myself for so long,
not really sure what to do,
and do I truly deserve love?
i no longer want misery's song,
need something genuine to pursue,
happiness i have been devoid of.
I am terrified,
but letting down the fortress,
i built so high,
no longer fortified,
cast away my pride,
and see what will come.

This, this is one of my favorite poems of yours. The fact that it reveals the vulnerability and yet, the trust that comes from a desire to be open once again after having been closed off for so long. But the realization of the doubt, and even fear of becoming so vulnerable once more... yet at the same time, it feels to me that in this a step of faith is taken into growth, and maturity.
