Autumn

Autumn

A Poem by Beccy
"

seasons come and go, as does love.

"
I have been led astray by the trees,
that even as they sway and rustle
gently to an Autumn breeze, disrobe.

I have been seduced by the fading
scent of the last carefully mown grasses;
the bright eyed squirrel, who harbours
no lust, save for that of abundant harvest.

I have lain naked beneath
a silver wreathed hunter's moon,
the stars so close I can reach
up and pluck them from the sky.

And I have loved you season through,
in pensive nocturne, stripped bare
of all summer dreaming;
storm brewed by the look in
your eyes, as the wild geese fly
to far distant horizons
and the first flurry of snow
cloaks whatever colour remains.

This is a beautiful poem of Autumn. You personification was absolutely stunning, especially that last stanza:
And I have loved you season through,
in pensive nocturne, stripped bare
of all summer dreaming;
storm brewed by the look in
your eyes, as the wild geese fly
to far distant horizons
and the first flurry of snow
cloaks whatever colour remains.

You have a lovely poetic voice.

I enjoyed the poem. The words danced and create good places and thoughts.
"And I have loved you season through,
in pensive nocturne, stripped bare
of all summer dreaming;"
The above lines are true. We must be stripped bare to know who we truly are. Thank you for sharing the amazing poetry.

this is a pure example of how inspirational autumn is for poets...the changing seasons, the dying of summer's ripeness...the crisp air as winter comes creeping in...and yet there is such beauty, even in death.

A very sensual dream laden work of sorts. The mood of verse passes betwixt the heart and draws at the spirit.

This has a sad tone to it reflecting loss of both summer and love. Your poetry is descriptive and elegant.

I'm always fascinated with seasonal poetry, and the changing of the seasons and how different writers approach it...you've worked the lost-love metaphor to perfection here with some really beautiful and bittersweet imagery...hard to pick favourite bits from this one, I was gripped from start to finish...I love the entrance of Winter to close it out...a sad story but gorgeously told...great work Beccy :)

This paused me on my Monday morning... the tones drew me, the words held me... and the aftertaste held my smile.
