Of lollipops and Sundays

Of lollipops and Sundays

A Poem by Beccy

Sticky little hands and lips,
unadorned with that to come,
delighting in each moment spent
though they be only lightly lent.

Sticky little hands and lips,
held fast and unashamed kissed,
secure in every moment spent,
though they be only lightly lent.

Sticky little hands and lips,
that dream in innocent repose,
of lollipops and Sundays spent
whilst I store moments heaven sent.

For my beautiful son.

dear Becky... when my daughter was
about nine months old, she would not
let go of a lollipop... she had red sticky
cheeks and hands, as I held her while
her Daddy drive us over the mountains.
Such crying when the lollipop melted
away! Your poem is delicately devoted
to precious memories to relive over and over.
truly, Pat

Those moments - so fleeting, and we miss so much. This poem is a lovely pause that reminds us to embrace everything in the now.

Beautiful poem, Becky, sums up your love for your child quite perfectly!

to be young and sticky...and just not care...that is innocently enjoying life...as we get older we store those memories because we have washed our hands and lips too many times...the sticky is gone...

kids need to be kids for as long as they can...and we older folks need to hold on to that youth in our minds and hearts as long as we can.

delightful, in each moment spent
poetry wont pay the rent
but shares the love that heaven sent

This is an absolute gem. I find it hard to write for my children thinking that whatever I write will never be good enough for them. You handled that splendidly. Be good, Beccy. CD

Beccy, you have the amazing knack of painting brethtaking pictures of mundane acts.
keen eye and mastery of verse. (does that sum you up?)
