When you told me

When you told me

A Poem by BelfastBhoy69
"

Just another silly tale of being ditched, again!

"

When you told me

How far away you seem to be lying next to me,

Cradled in my loving in my arms , dreaming to be free

I can feel the warmth of your perfumed skin, the smell of your just washed hair,

Two bodies lay on scented sheets, but the love it wasn’t there.

Your heart is with another, I could see it on your face,

In your mind you’re with your lover and I am in his place,

So why play this game of cheating, is that all that you can do?

But you lie so good when you look at me and tell me “I love you”.

When you told me that you loved me and that it was only me,

When you told me of your story that finally we could be,

When you told me just how happy now that it’s so plain to see,

That from today and every-day you belong to me.

Soon time had gone and it wasn’t long that I began to tell,

She’d come home late, from some girlie date, that things weren’t going well,

The call it came last evening, that she’s not coming home,

“Our love’s not growing as it should”, so you want to be alone.

“I’m sorry” you cried, but oh how you lied, you said it’s for the better,

“I’ll call you again, need to talk to a friend, I promise I’ll send you a letter”,

No letter arrived, from love that has died, no “Sorry”, not even a mention,

Her love it was gone, she had to move on, with cheating her only intention.

When you told me how you missed me and waited on my call,

When you told me how you thought of us walking in the fall,

When you told me how you wanted to rush back home to me,

Lying in our loving bed, loving only me.

Looking at some photos, of a love we shared before,

Thinking of the last time, that she walked out the door,

Memories of a love that forever cross my mind,

A love so deep, I’ll forever keep of a very special kind.

Moving on is not so easy, as people often say,

You’ll find another sweetheart, to love another day,

I don’t want another someone to fill an empty space,

I cannot say “I love you”, to one who’s in her place.

When you told me it was over and time for you to go,

When you told me you’re with another and you love him so,

When you told me, “See you baby, wish you all the best,”

I took my heart, in two parts and laid them down to rest.
