XOXO

XOXO

A Poem by Ben Robinson
"

From the first xoxo, to the last goodbye.

"

Beach walks, love talks,

You didn't like it when I wore jeans,

Honey, we were just a pair of teens,

The thrown away kisses,

All the times we had near misses,

Oh no no no,

I don't know why I loved you like that,

I typed xoxo,

I waited, and I sat,

And you typed xoxo,

That's why I loved you like that,

I never thought I could love,

Until I needed to,

I never thought I could trust,

Until I needed to,

I never thought I needed you,

Until I needed to,

I needed to...

Oh no no no,

I don't know why I loved you like that,

I typed xoxo,

I waited, and I sat,

And you typed xoxo,

That's why I loved you like that,

Brown eyes, starry skies,

The life we nearly lived,

The things we almost did,

Just to realise who we are,

And that we're better off apart,

Oh no no no,

xoxo...

Author's Note

Ben Robinson
Hi, So I’m meant to be here writing the foreword on what XOXO is about, and I don’t really want to. It’s been a rough week, I’ve lost a lot but gained a lot, and this poem in some ways sums it up, despite writing it months ago. It’s almost in dedication to the kid who breaks up with you over text and who moved on a few days later, you know the feeling? And despite all the pain, you still forgive them, because you need them, and you’ll miss them. XOXO was written about when you first send kisses, to the last goodbye, and the ex that you’d always take back. The last line sums up my week, and we realised we were better off apart, but I’ve come to realise we aren’t and I need you back, as my friend, my best friend who made my days a little lighter. Thank youse.
Ben. xoxo

Youthfull sweat hearts
No we will never part
Until other things take or fancy
or we meet someone else

I love the ending, well done !

Brown eyes, starry skies,

The life we nearly lived,

The things we almost did,

Just to realise who we are,

And that we're better off apart
