Those of You

Those of You

A Poem by BessLouise

My life has been what

It has been

I cannot change the past

Nor do I regret

The mistakes I have made.

The woman that I am today

Thanks God,

That I have today.

To love my daughter,

Cherish each smile, each giggle

As if it were my last.

To love the man that God has blessed

Me with to enjoy for just one more day.

Each day each moment

Each laugh each movement.

To act out and hold tight

Because yes, everything will be alright.

The woman that I am today

Thanks God

That I have today.

To soak up the summer sun,

To watch the laughing children,

The dogs run, having fun.

To enjoy the scent of fresh air.

To enjoy the fog that hangs over

The world very early each morning.

The woman that I am today

Thanks God

That I have today.

To taste the taste of your kiss.

To enjoy the touch of your lips.

To greet each smiling stranger as if

They were my best friend.

Each day brings new

Each day is a gift to me and to you.

The woman that I am today,

Thanks God

That I have today.

Never enough money,

But just enough love.

Just enough stress and enough tiring souls

To keep pushing on day by day.

To have each and every moment to live

To breathe, to talk to run, to play.

Taken for granted,

The Lords gifts have been

Let us no longer weep because inside each of us is

The voice inside my head

The woman that I am today

Thanks God

That I have today.
