THE EATERY

THE EATERY

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

frustration

"
Earthquake of sound
cackling guffaws
plunges my hunger
into an abyss
pointless to omit
ignites fire in my brain
I shall depart this agony
seek quiet
turn to drink
in a cool neighborhood bar

Your poem reminds me of my vow to never go out to eat when I'm super hungry (i.e. grouchy). It's never as good as I had imagined it & there can be frustrations as you suggest. I love it when a poet identifies a perfectly honed slice of life experience & conveys it with originality (((HUGS))) Fondly, Margie

A "slice" of life to go - please. Ain't no room for pause or thought and the "silence" is so loud you're ears bleed.
