PETUNIA PURPLE

PETUNIA PURPLE

A Poem by Betty Hermelee

my mountains....

PETUNIA PURPLE

My ancient mountains

Embracing valley

Kissed with haze

Mottled with gray wash within their folds

Yet today the sun’s fire burnt the film

That clouded their grandeur

My mountains flaunt a green carpet

Blue aquamarine hues in the distance

Spellbound and lucid

They scintillate in the sun’s luster

Alas, at dusk, they boast a petunia purple

Well that's a landscape worth waking up to and waving goodnight to Betty.
It also has a never ending look about it, that you could just gulp in the air and walk into eternity.
