CIRCUMSTANCES

CIRCUMSTANCES

A Poem by Betty Hermelee
"

to be continued!

"

I awaken at dawn with head pain

on the morning of

my debarkation, a disturbed slumber

My mind roams from home, to ship, to London, to my soldier embracing some idiotic notions too sheepish to reveal

I endeavor to prepare tea in the middle of the eve

To settle my nerves yet I still quiver from head to toe

Return  to my fluffy comforter eyes wide open

I peer out of my porthole at six o’clock to view a burgeoning sunrise with wings of

Purple and balloons of orange

T'is almost past the horizon

Yet a moment of deep thought impedes

My stunning scene and these concerns are my plausible plight

Which lives within me day and night

grates on my worry and meddles with my ordinary affairs

the essence is that I must find a doctor in London

Before I disembark, I shall speak with the purser to locate

a doctor and to seek a small hotel near the hospital where my soldier is confined

I shall send him a telegram from the ship informing

Of my impending visit and sending my love, of course

All this in due time as we must disembark in several hours

I sit on my trunk expecting the porter to arrive soon to

remove by baggage

Reflect a moment on the voyage, the joys the sorrows, the tears, and the laughs, all commingle together now

I have achieved my aim so far, although my future is uncertain

wonderful poem takes me to my younger years when I was trying to find what love means what love has me
and then to find that love last forever but feelings can expire at any given moment with a year drop that
stays on until I fall asleeo

Thank you Robert for visiting and a lovely review of my poem
Warmly, B
A wonderful story so far dear Betty. Had the feel of a Nevil Shute tale. I liked the set-up and the need in the tale to find the soldier. Hello from Michigan and thank you for sharing part of the story.

You have an excellent knack for short stories and how to affect the reader; your lady goes through physical pain and great anticipation to see her soldier. I hope she soldiers on.

I'll add my best wishes for the results of your surgery
My wife went through it abt a yr ago and I don't think I am too far away.
You have done another typically well written piece but I have trouble being too sympathetic with your unfaithful lady.
How long is this poor soldier sod going to be in medical difficulty.
Be it too long, your loose lady may be attracted into yet another sexual fling, however it will take a mind more devious than mine to lead her even further astray!!
Keep up the nasty BESTB.

the saga continues. nice flow of thoughts in her head and life. she seem to know what she wants but often goes with the tide. she's really got it going on.

I have achieved my aim so far, although my future is uncertain"

god be with you in your surgery and prayers for a speedy recovery.

All's more than well in your world of words, Betty - that's for sure. :) Hopefully the same applies as quickly as possible with your eye surgery. Thinking of you, as always, dear friend.

I will, promise!🌹
This is quite the tale spin in this poem. Voyage on a ship with nerves all electric and on edge. A soldier that is confined in a hospital. All while watching a beautiful sunrise out the porthole of a ship.

Thank you for taking me on this amazing journey with your words and images painted
