Tears of Time

Tears of Time

A Poem by William Michael Reeves
"

Chardelle

"

Tears of Time

Above a garden

where death does pardon

lives now laid to rest in sleep's sublime

eternal vigil,

here stands an angel

who's forever crying tears of time.

Grieved eyes discovered

her beauty weathered,

the harsh elements of life and death.

Rain is Earth's refrain ~

effigies hear pain.

Peace engraved her face with sorrow's breath.

Carved of graceful stone

that knows nature's tone ~

monolithic songs departed sing.

Their words are written,

etched deep ... so listen.

Granite resonates with life ~ takes wing!

Chardelle is a form developed by Charlyne Zurich. The 5/5/9 5/5/9 aabccb patterns have a nice lyrical cadence.

This is a special, beautiful monument that has some angelic tones to her...she is carved to last to eternity....and she embodies spirit... that part of humans who believe in a spirit...the monolith stone has song like words carved int on it..."The effigies of her pain" is her grieving song.
Very well written WM
Warmly,
B.

A beautiful post I enjoyed so much. I will have to study this form and perhaps try to write one as well. Thanks also for the introduction to a new "form." ~Sharon

Sounds as though the weather-beaten angel was the recipient of a miracle. We are not told the identities of the voices, only that they caused the monument to "take wing." This is not one to be taken literally, only as a lesson about the superiority of spirit to matter.
PS: In the beginning of the third line from the end, I think you meant "Their."
