The Bad Three

The Bad Three

A Poem by H. E. Schreiter

Rage

A fire burning

Me from within

Hatred

A shadow strangling

Out all the light and love

Anger

Raging out of control

Like a rushing river

Screaming and yelling

Are symptoms of their plague

Like a truth serum

They make me speak my mind

Revealing all my secrets

I’d rather keep disguised

They take over

My mind and body are theirs

They make me do things

That spread fear

Things with horrible consequences

Things that will get me into trouble

From lying to murder

I’ll never know what I’ll do

Until it happens

Until I have a stinging cheek

Or blood stained hands

Nothing can control rage, anger, or hatred

Not even me

I wish they could be stopped

Then the world will be peaceful

There would be no crime

No fighting

Only love and happiness

Rivals of the bad three.
