True False Idols

True False Idols

A Poem by Lovecraft
"

Myth and Reality...

"
Vast are the gulfs where the Angels dwell
Where matter has no true form,
And lies come down from above,
Waiting to be expelled without doubt.
Vast is the pit in which He dwells,
 His name echoing Lightbringer.
Wrath and Pride has consumed thee, my Son,
But you may yet redeem thyself again.
He brings forth both Light and Dark, Love and Hate.
The Duality of Gaia and her Home, Mother Earth.
Soon shall it shatter into nothingness like the great Voids.

It may seem slightly vague, so I'd like you to attempt to "Decode" it, I guess. Just let me know if it is any good, lol. I also wrote this rather quickly FYI.

Your interpretation is mostly correct but I did intend for it to be open to different interpretation.. read more

I'm thinking along the lines of the devil is required to balance the good - too much good will throw the whole thing off kilter so evil is..well a necessary evil...lol.
Lucifer is lightbringer I think. Which is weird ...
arrrgh...
okay this is a good poem and something I have thought about myself. "If God is all powerful why doesn't he simply destroy the Devil." - Its a question I have found on lots of Christian sites - asked by Christians.

I get that.
it feels like the person written about is very strong and powerful, it doesn't match my current mood because I am lonely and pining away wishing I had love and a relationship or was married, now I'm reaching my forties, but it's good to remember that there is this kind of power or feeling of power out there, maybe it informs my current emotional state in some way

That "person" i'm writing about is Lucifer. Also Lucifer means "Light bringer" or "Light Bringing".
Good?! Try fantastic! It seems to me to be an atheistic (or at least impartial) view on the blind faith that religion has us go on. That our sins, our misdeeds, our failings are forgivable and insignificant in the endless struggle for morality. The folly of Man lies in interacting with his fellow Man and forgetting that an unseen creator/judger is watching us and weighing our eternal fates... or perhaps it is we who are the judgers, as well as the jury, and our folly is taking that role too far...

... so, in the end, I most definitely put this in your category of "any good", and a category of my own: "Fan-freakin-tastic!" ;)
