Here, You and I

Here, You and I

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

Please don't turn eyes away from me
Can't you feel this love
There's more to our story
Than the things we went through in the night
So turn your beautiful eyes to me again

We were the greatest of friends
We were the ones who helped one another mend
When our souls were low, we were the angel's wings
We can never forget those things
Like the soul deep complications we know of one another
Baby we're more than just here and now

Just take a moment, a little piece of time
Go back to the days before our complicated lives
We, the youth, the fancy free
In the higher days of learning and living
We never thought that we would ever be here
We never knew what would develop as time went by
Two souls drifting together aimlessly
But now on the verge of becoming something more

Don't let your eyes go from bright to blue
Don't shy away from the feeling you know have inside
We're meant to be something more than here and now
I know, I know because I could never love greater than you
You are the one that makes me feel complete
So please turn you eyes to me
And tell me you love me
Tell me you feel what I do

I can't place my finger on the exact title, but I imagined a song by the Sundays as I wrote this.

First of all, good luck in the contest. You tell such an intricate story to go with the picture. Your imagination is amazing here. Your poem is lovely.

Oh I love this. It's beautiful. I've got tons of poems dying to come out because of this picture, but I wanted to wait to write it after the contest is over. Thank you for submitting. Amazing piece. :)
