Lost Heart

Lost Heart

A Poem by Blake Q Hatfield

The one that broke your heart
Left your soul weary and stranded
On an island of chaotic loneliness and despair
Where you wished for a miracle rescue
From a ship long sailed from you sea

As much as we might try to change it
The past and memory will remain a ghost
Spirits of what once felt real and true
No matter how hard you hold on
What's over will remain lost to you

I see your soul, I see your heart
They are scared and longing for that sweet touch
The pull of another soul, of a true heart
But you only want the one who left you cold
Thinking hope is still alive in this rotted corpse
You once thought to be true love

I wish your soul would recover
Dunk your heart in the river
And let the false hope wash from your eyes
So you can see the present in a clearer view
No longer fogged with the broken memories
Of the one that broke your heart

So touching! I wish people could let go. I've met a few of those.
