The other half of me

The other half of me

A Poem by Lady of the Ring

Midnight, hmm, sweet darkness

I stalk away from the fortress

it is time for me to leave, I've stayed to long

but this feeling is all wrong

I shouldn't be feeling this

my life was bliss

but when you smiled at me

my heart turned warmer than it used to be

I never cared about anyone

I had a heart of stone

I wish that this feeling would go

that the pain wasn't so slow

I turn back and start to go

making my heart once again whole

No it doesn't sound corny. I liked your poem, I like people who write from there heart compared to metre and rhyme and all of that other poety jargon.

This was nice.
Not corny at all if you ask me.
Good job on this one.

I didn't find it corny either. I would suggest retouching a little to make it flow more but, overall, it is nicely penned.

Perfect title for this well penned poem. I don't think it's corny, makes sense to me.
