FALLEN WOMAN

FALLEN WOMAN

A Poem by Maureen Mwaniki
"

just read:)

"

Now they mock me

But their words

Carry no sting

For there is no shame

In being me

They stare,

At the swing of my hips

And long,

For the poison on my lips

So I nurse them,

Under my skirt

Then mock them,

With the shame of their lust

Now their mocking

Is all but gone

Said only in undertones

For the secrets of lust

Hidden under my skirt

Is a price no man

Is willing to match

Do not mock me

Your words

Will not sting

There is no shame

In being me
