Stupid Girl

Stupid Girl

A Poem by Soraya Austen

Stupid girl you know better than to put your heart on your sleeve.
You knew it would eventually break your heart and soul.
Yet you threw caution to the wind and committed fully.
So here you are, mascara running down your face.
Hugging a pillow instead of him.
Oh, to be young and in love, they say with hearts in their eyes.
But I say, Oh, to be young and dumb, with coldness in my eyes.
The heart wants what it wants, but where is the brain?
Has it abandoned reason and gave up on intelligence?
Yes, in a way it has.
It wanted love and found it.
In the most unlikely of people, but it feels so good.
So maybe we can throw caution to the wind.
And fall head over heels in love.
Because we need love and hope and companionship.
Why not fall in love hard?
Sure, we may get our hearts broke, but that only makes us wiser.
We may get hurt but what if we didnt?
What if they were the one for you and loved you beyond infinity?
Then let us fall madly in love, fully, without hesitation.
If we break then we will become stronger.
But if we didn't break then we will be happier.
Let us love most ardently with nothing but hope for the future.
Stupid girl, madly in love with hope that he may be the one someday,
Oh that stupid girl is me.
