My love affair with pain

Pain has become a friend of mine
I've known him all my life
But in the past years I've gotten to know him more
Yes he has become quite a friend of mine

He's always there for me
When I finally feel happy
When family fails
When friends turn their backs

Yes it seems pain has become a best friend of mine
He goes everywhere I do
Yes he visits me at night
He helps me stain my pillow with tears

Pain has become a lover of mine
He's protective of me
When I get close to some one else he gets possessive
No one knows me like him he tells me

Pain has become an ex of mine
I found someone new and better
He helped me get over him
He helped me feel happiness again

He goes everywhere with me
Yes he visits me at night
But he stains my pillow with kisses
He has become my hope

Pain visited me again tonight
My pillow stained with tears again
He's here and he plans to stay
I was a fool to try and get away

I told you so he says
He can't love you like I do
He embraces me in his arms
And this time he won't let go

He's my love and my life
He's controlling and possessive
But even so I know he'll never leave me
Yes it seems my love affair with pain has begun again
