Wondering

A poem I came up with while walking my dog one night.

The cold night soothes the hurting soul
As the mind wanders into dark places
Wondering how, why, & why not
Wondering why the breakers of hearts are so cruel
While their victims are oh so innocent
They where once a girl or a boy
With hopes, ambitions and dreams
Wondering if they remember that
Or if they even care
