Memories of Another Broken Soul

A bit of a sad piece, about the loss of of happiness and hope which results in falling into despair.

I remember a time when you weren't so far away

When I knew I could easily grab you and say 

"I love you"

I remember a time when it didn't hurt to face another day

When i woke up I grinned to myself and would softly say

"I'm happy"

I remember a time when my opinions didn't sway

Sure of myself, I would proudly say

"I'm confident"

I remember a time when I was optimistic, in a way

I could stand up and assuredly say

"I can do it"

I remember a time where I didn't tell lies

I didn't have to cover up the part of me that died

I remember a time where my life wasn't a cacophony-

A wretched symphony of what wasn't meant to be

Cymbals smashing and crashing on all that they left of me

I remember a time!

I remember a time where it was all ok

I remember a time I could even define ok

I remember........ a time.....

This was meant to be spoken outloud. I used fonts and bolding to express the changes in voice or tone that would occur. If you could comment on the effectiveness of this method that would be nice
