Depression is a war

You either win or die trying

And i don't say that lightly

You have to fight everyday

Fight to get up

Fight to keep going

To eat

To smile

To go out

You have to fight with your thoughts

Some days it's just too much

And my thoughts win

Its ugly when they do

Every thought is a bullet

Every movement is a punch

Every word stabs you in the heart

It takes out the air in your lungs

It took the daughter

The sister

The lover

The friend that people loved once

Depression is a war

Often lost by everyone
