I'll Eat You First

I'll Eat You First

A Poem by Bryad Polis Valentino
"

Spiritual, a myth made into reality. The snake admires his chosen meal most.

"

The free and the wild,

Birds in the sky,

Flying each and every way,

Spirits of the wind,

Going high before they descend.

I want to admire them,

Not shoot them down,

Watch them go to die.

Free bird, home to your soul,

How I admire you,

As I’m a snake in the tree,

Sacrifice to me,

I ate you first,

Tastiest meal I’ll find,

In my stomach, die,

I shot you down anyways,

Why’d I love you?

You little stupid meal.

"The serpent was what he became. My friend devoured his prey, having no choice as he starved. He forced out the one hiding, and she immediately engaged him. The slayer guarded himself, his flesh breaking beneath the onslaught. Bryan braced himself, remembering Yennefer's warning.."

I wanted to admire those birds, but couldn't fly, thinking like a snake at the time, a infiltrator, a survivor, a desert-sidewinder. Thanks for reading, my pagan bro! If you need anything, let me know. Anything.

Seems cold, but I like it. Simple matter of fact tone and words. No need to be flowery or verbose. Sometimes it's better to say what you mean to get the point across.
