The Painted Face

The Painted Face

A Poem by BrynnaW.

I am somebody,
Somebody that is influence by what I see,
What you do I do,
Everything you do rubs off on me.

You made me the way I am.
If you say I'm a brat, the same goes for you.
Say I'm a jerk... Well, you get it.
We are not that different,
You and I.

We share similarities in our personalities.
The same molded heart,
The same thoughts and feelings.
You created me,
Painted me.

You painted this face on me,
And then, somehow, the paint started to layer,
The several feelings and attitudes,
continued to grow and crust on my skin.

I changed constantly and so did you.
Now, you push me away,
Leaving me with this terrible painted face that you created.

I loved this poem! Don't say you're not that great at poems...you can always improve but I like it a lot anyway. If I understood the meaning of this correctly, it is about someone making someone else be like them, then leaves that other person on their own, not knowing who they are. Let me know! Great write.

To say I was surprised to read this piece for my contest about "fire" is a bit of an understatement. Looking into it though, I felt it was the only choice for my number one.

If second and third place defined fire and personified it, respectively, then you define its power, while doing the work of both of other placers at the same time. Fire is this person, this person who lit a fire in you. That's the true magic of fire: than it spreads, that it creates smaller versions of itself, slowly engulfing the whole world in it's heat. This poem is a metaphor for any powerful individual in history. They were so strong because they possessed the ability to take the amazing drive they possessed and inspire it in others.

Or maybe I'm just blowing steam? That'd be a funny ending to this inferno wouldn't it?

This is a very unique poem, I can tell by your words you felt angry, broken, sad ...all the emotions of a woman/or man who has felt betrayed by love

You do not write poems often, but when you do they leave me speechless. The last sentence was so strong. I loved this very much. I think, to some it can be relatable. Well done.
