On The Table...

On The Table...

A Poem by BJ "Bunneh3000" Brown
"

Apologies due to misunderstandings in love...

"

Said some things that hurt you last night
aggrevation laced answers without foresight
barbs, buckshots, and words that do damage
misconceived thoughts and tones I can’t manage
and pain hit the floor like blood
frustration flood clogged my mind like crud
yet you kept your cool cause you knew
that my stressed mind state didn’t involve you
I blew fuses, sparkplugs, and let dat fire spew
not disrespectful but still the atypical flew

And I slept in reruns of it like Tivo
your questions, my defense reacts, you know?
marinated in the unrelated disagreement
serenaded by your concern in the tone you sent
began to see my mistake and felt instant heart ache
for heaven’s sake, what was I thinkin’?
took it out on you and I won’t even drinkin’

Now I pace the recent battlefield
shuddering in the echoes of my fault
shivering in the possibility of your thought
cause I made a bed in which you won’t lay
and I don’t blame you
I’ve done this before yet it never inflamed you
forgiving to a fault but not without a break
first time you’ve looked my way and pumped your break
and that I can’t take
that I can’t take
can’t take that you can’t take
you can’t take
So I breathe deep and wade neck deep in apology
leave my love on the table
and walk away

and pain hit the floor like blood
frustration flood clogged my mind like crud
yet you kept your cool cause you knew
that my stressed mind state didn’t involve you
I blew fuses, sparkplugs, and let dat fire spew
not disrespectful but still the atypical flew

And I slept in reruns of it like Tivo
your questions, my defense reacts, you know?
marinated in the unrelated disagreement
serenaded by your concern in the tone you sent
began to see my mistake and felt instant heart ache
for heaven’s sake, what was I thinkin’?
took it out on you and I won’t even drinkin’

Now I pace the recent battlefield
shuddering in the echoes of my fault
shivering in the possibility of your thought
cause I made a bed in which you won’t lay
and I don’t blame you
I’ve done this before yet it never inflamed you
forgiving to a fault but not without a break
first time you’ve looked my way and pumped your break
and that I can’t take
that I can’t take
can’t take that you can’t take
you can’t take
So I breathe deep and wade neck deep in apology
leave my love on the table
and walk away
